The 2019 Nike Air Max 97 Shanghai Kaleidoscope shoes were designed as part of Nike’s On Air competition. The winner from Shanghai, designer Cash Ru, came up with this stunning sneaker. It has proved to be a sell out and generated a lot of hype.
The sneakers feature bold blue / sea green panels on top of white base. Inspired by Ru’s impression of the clouds floating across Shanghai’s skyline as they shift and dissipate to create new forms and shapes. The Nike Air unit at the bottom of the shoe further emphasises the cloud theme and provides lush cushioning.
Unique to the shoe is the stand out use of double tongue tabs and triple heel tabs for contemporary and head turning look.
The shoe has become a 2019 classic and the vibrant colours work particularly well to compliment a spring / summer outfit. They can be paired with sports leggings but work equally well with jeans. Perhaps combined with a crisp white pair of bottoms would make a statement outfit.
