In our second feature of influential Instagram Sneaker Heads, we talk to Matilda Antón – @matildaedge
Thanks for speaking to us Matilda! Could you please tell us a bit about yourself?
Hello! Thank you for asking me to be part of this! Well, my name is Matilda Antón, I’m a 26 y.o. blogger, editor and content creator from Spain, actually living in Madrid. I’m also a sneaker enthusiast and sneakers are the main focus of almost everything I do.
When and how did you first get into collecting sneakers?
I got into sneakers when I was super young, I’ve always been interested in them so I started reading a lot about them; sports magazines, newspapers, watching documentaries and also movies about sports. I wanted to know as much about sports shoes and sneakers as I could. I’m from a small town so getting sneakers was not easy, and they were expensive so my parents always said no when I asked them to get me the pairs I wanted. When I started working, I spent my first pay check on buying these sneakers, and that was when my obsession started.
How many sneakers do you own and what are your favourite pair?
I actually have a bunch of them, I had more but I’m giving away a lot of pairs, I’m just keeping the ones I love the most. I’d rather giveaway the ones I don’t usually wear to people who need them more than me.
It’s well known that my favourite sneakers are the Nike Air Presto, I love almost all the styles in this collection.
Which sneakers do you wear the most day-to- day?
I’m always wearing Nike Air Max, adidas Ultraboost and Nike Air Presto, because they are so easy to combine with all my clothes and they are also super comfortable.
Which sneakers are you excited about in 2017?
I’m super excited about the re-edition of the Nike Air Max 1 “Elephant” that are being released for the Air Max Anniversary… also, 2017 is the year of the Air Max 97, which are one of my favourite silhouettes, so I can’t wait to see the styles that are going to be released!
Could you tell us your top 3 sneakers of the moment?
I am completely in love with the latest Diadora collaboration with the store 24Kilates from Barcelona, inspired by “Copito de Nieve” an iconic gorilla from Barcelona’s zoo. I also love the Nike Zoom Spiridon from NikeLab I got a couple of weeks ago in London, and if I have to choose another pair, I would say that the Prestos from the Beautiful x Powerful collection has become one of my favourites because they are all black and the leather makes them perfect for my daily routine.
